I am not a good cook. At all. I reached a low point the other day when I had to appeal to Twitter to coach me through the tricky situation of what to do with chicken in the interim between it being cooked and my slumbering brother awaking to eat it, in order to avoid food poisoning. I know. Low. Point.

However, last week, whilst procrastinating, I baked two banana cakes. Not at the same time, that would have done my head in, but in the same week – which is an absolute record. I haven’t baked so much since I was seven and the family dog refused to eat my butter cake (I forgot the butter).
